Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Monitor Technician, you function as a Nurse Assistant and a Monitor Tech as determined by department needs. Observe, interpret and maintain records of cardiac rhythms of patients on cardiac or telemetry monitoring. Continuously improves services and processes. Actively participate in outstanding customer service and accept responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. 

What you should expect to do in this role:

• Performs individualized patient -focused care and technical tasks under the direct delegation of a registered nurse
• Assists with the care of the patient in collaboration with the patient care team
• Maintains and applies principles of patient safety
• Participates in the improvement of operational functions and of patient care
• Establishes communication and respectful relationships with all disciplines
• Performs continuous telemetry EKG monitoring of cardiac patients
• Maintains and troubleshoots the cardiac telemetry equipment
• Documents rhythm interpretations on assigned patients
• Documents and maintains accountability of all telemetry equipment
• Communicates information about patient conditions (changes in rhythm analysis) with patient care providers on routine and emergent basis
• Recognizes when and how to escalate patient concerns up the chain of command
• Ensures decisions and actions on behalf of patients are determined in an ethical manner

What qualification you will need for this role:

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) verification course, as specified in policy
• Successful completion of Dysrhythmia Exam within allotted timeframe, as specified in policy
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• One year nurse assistant experience in an acute care setting
